Third Coast designed the digital strategy for Dan Calandriello’s 17th District Cook County Commissioner primary win. The 17th District spans nearly the north-south length of suburban Cook County and as a result is geographically and demographically diverse. Third Coast designed multiple digital campaigns leveraging video and other digital media to target unique voter segments.
Third Coast designed a digital campaign that targeted five key voter groups and worked with the campaign to make sure messaging was sufficient to appeal to primary voters but did not sacrifice Dan’s broader general election appeal. The Cook County 17th District was represented by a Republican incumbent and it leans slightly Republican. Therefore, messaging needed to be both voter segment specific (meaning multiple digital campaigns) but also balanced so as not to alienate general election voters.
Dan won the Democratic primary with nearly 55% of the vote and won by wider margins in key leaning Republican areas in the north side of the district (where Name ID was not as strong).
Regina Mescall was a non-endorsed candidate for Cook County Judge and leveraged a digital only campaign to reach as many voters as possible.
Third Coast created a digital campaign that included both video and Google Display ads. The campaign highlighted the candidate’s background and targeted voters in key wards/precincts that were most receptive to Regina’s campaign and background.
Regina was able to squeeze out a win by .5% against six other candidates.
